SCC365 = Year Round Giving!

Susan Phippen founded Scituate Community Christmas in 1989, after learning of a Scituate family that was without Christmas gifts.  Thirty years later, hundreds of families and thousands of children have been served by Scituate Community Christmas. Susan’s mission and the spirit to help those in need at Christmas still drives the organization and all the many volunteers who support it.

While the holiday program is and has always been our core mission, we are excited to announce “SCC365!” - our year round giving initiative.  In the past year, SCC has initiated a variety of community based programs, from the “Cards For Our Community,” whereby 600+ Veterans received holiday words of appreciation, to the “SCC Has Your Back” project which provided 90 children with backpacks full of school supplies. Beyond these programs, we have been working with Scituate schools, Scituate Public Safety personnel, churches, and social services throughout the year, to provide families with emergency assistance - helping out with utility bills, car repairs, sports equipment for student-athletes, educational classes, and even a brand new bike to allow a teenager to commute to his job.  This is just beginning -- many exciting new initiatives are underway for the coming year!

Honoring the lifetime of philanthropy of its founder, Scituate Community Christmas is committed to serving the community she loved in our new home, The Susan Phippen House - a place of year round giving.
