Making a difference at Susan’s House!

SCC House Winter 2018.jpg

Upon her passing in 2014, SCC received a bequest from its founder,  Susan Phippen, which allowed the organization to fulfill her dreams of purchasing a permanent home.  The Susan Phippen House is adjacent to the Scituate Animal Shelter, which is quite fitting as Susan was the founder of the Shelter many years ago. It is the site of the old 3A Farm and boasts a perfect location for serving the needs of our community.

While it currently is home to Scituate Community Christmas and its inventory, the House also serves as a “headquarters” for SANDS - another charity near and dear to Susan’s heart. Since August 2017, The Susan Phippen House has been an open meeting space where connections are made and collective knowledge is shared. We believe that collaboration across organizations and non-profits in Scituate will build a stronger community. The House is serving as the meeting space for many Scituate nonprofits. The Food Pantry, Scituate Animal Shelter, Maura’s Mission, Scituate Hockey Boosters, 12 Woman Care, Scituate Education Foundation and more!

Our collective dream for the Susan Phippen House is for it to be a place that represents what Susan personified. Compassion, giving, community, and making a difference.
