#SCC365: Welcome to Our Giving Community
We meet the needs of our community at Christmastime and throughout the year by supporting families during times of hardship while inspiring the values of kindness, compassion, philanthropy and volunteerism.
Christmas season | October-december
The Big Community GIVE is the heart of our mission where members and volunteers ensure that families who have experienced a hardship receive assistance during the holiday season which is intended to be a magical time of year.
Our main source of funding comes from raffle calendars that are sent to Scituate residents. By making a donation to the raffle, you are supporting our mission and helping your fellow citizens. Donations of cash or services are accepted at any time in order to meet requests for aid all year long.
Funds are used to purchase gift certificates for our recipient families and elderly or provide financial support during an emergency. We encourage a donation of gift certificates that are redeemable at local businesses, but will accept all gift card donations. During the holidays we also accept donations of toys, crafts, puzzles, books, games and sports equipment. Clothing donations are not encouraged, as matching items to our families is difficult. Gift cards allow the parents to make the correct clothing choices for their child. We provide wrapping supplies to our families so they can participate in the gift giving experience.

Community Collaboration Project
Whether it is a paid utility bill or a grocery gift card, the foundation of GIVING starts at “home”. The Community Collaboration Project at the Susan Phippen House serves as an anchor by providing a warm, welcoming space for outreach and giving while connecting people with charitable organizations to promote the common good. The House hosts two non-profit summits designed to encourage community collaboration.
SCC Has Your Back Project
A back to school project designed to ensure that every student has the essential supplies they need to be successful on the very first day of school. We welcome partnerships with local businesses or corporations who are able to sponsor new backpacks and/or school supplies. Local students and their families are encouraged to become ambassadors by holding mini collections in their neighborhoods.
Community Hero Project
The Community Hero Project is a program that selects a group or individuals that deserve to be recognized in a unique and compassionate way. This initiative typically unites our youngest volunteers with our most respected community citizens. In 2019, we have selected Scituate Veterans for the Community Hero Project. Stay tuned for details on how students and families can get involved.
